Program: Silk Flower Arrangements for Nursing Homes Workshop


Speakers: Members Molly Nelson, Designer, and Nancy Templeman, Master of Interior Design, Licensed, Certified


Description: Silk flowers and bud vases will be provided, but members can also bring their own. Nancy and Molly will lead us in designing bud vase arrangements, to be donated to local nursing homes.

Program: Selected Shrubs and Small Trees for Coastal Virginia – The Under Utilized, Underappreciated, and Unusual


Speaker: Les Parks, Vice President of Horticulture, Norfolk Botanical Garden


Description: Coastal Virginia’s climate allows gardeners to grow the state’s most diverse palette of plants. Unfortunately, local landscapes often reflect little diversity with the same tired plants used over and over. This talk will introduce some of the lesser planted shrubs and trees that can add more color, life, and interest to gardens, all while thriving in the local climate.

Program: The Herbal Pantry


Speaker: Billi Parus, Life member of the Herb Society of America and the Herb Society of Great Britain, Virginia Beach Master Gardener and Master Food Preserver


Description: This is a demonstration and a sampling class. Audience volunteers needed. Several techniques will be demonstrated, as you learn how to make herbal vinegars, marinades, pestos, butters, mayo and dips with everyday utensils and ingredients. Recipes provided.

Program: Overview of Demonstration Gardens at Virginia Tech Research Center

Description: Dr. Fox will guide us on a tour of the 30 demonstration gardens, including the tree and shrub arboretum and waterwise plants. The classroom has been reserved for box dinners and the business meeting following the program. In case of inclement weather, the presentation will be a virtual tour in the classroom.
